A beautifully illustrated and fascinating vintage book, "Glorious Battles of English History" by Major C.H. Wylly. Published by Raphael Tuck & Sons around 1915, this copy features a foreword by none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The book is filled with black and white illustrations and several striking color plates depicting key moments in English history, such as the Battle of Quebec and the Charge of the Twenty-First Lancers. The book has a colorful dust jacket which shows wear and tear, and the cover itself is a dark, marbled pattern with a plain spine. A great piece for history buffs and book collectors alike. Author: Major C.H. Wylly Foreword: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Illustrator: Harry Payne Publisher: Raphael Tuck & Sons, LTD Date: circa 1915 Condition: The book shows significant signs of age. The dust jacket is worn, with the fabric covering the spine slightly torn.The pages are yellowed and some have minor tears and foxing, consistent with its age. There is a page missing at the front, which I think was blank. The binding is still holding together but is fragile. Some of the colour plates have been cellotaped in. For its age it is not too bad.
